A directory for people who explore on foot
Walking Tour Finder collects practical city guides for travellers who prefer to walk, with a short, curated list of guided walking tours for each city.
What you will find here
Each city guide focuses on the things that matter when you plan to walk: which sights and neighbourhoods are close together, where the pleasant walking is, how steep and how far, what the weather does to a long day outside, and how to arrive and get around. Guides also answer the questions travellers most often ask about each city.
The site currently covers 9 cities in 3 countries. It is a starting point, not an encyclopaedia; we would rather cover fewer places well than many places thinly.
How destinations are chosen
The first three countries are the three most visited in the world, according to UN Tourism's most recent complete set of international arrival figures. Within each country we chose three cities that are popular with visitors and that reward exploring on foot, using published visitor data and editorial judgement. We do not claim they are the three most visited cities in each country.
- France: 102 million international tourist arrivals in 2024.
- Spain: 93.7 million international tourist arrivals in 2024.
- United States: 72.3 million international tourist arrivals in 2024.
Where the information comes from
Guides are compiled from published sources such as official tourism and transport bodies, UNESCO, and openly licensed travel references, which are listed at the foot of each page with the date they were checked. We avoid details that go out of date quickly, such as ticket prices, and we ask you to confirm opening hours and services before you travel.
The map illustrations are original renderings from Natural Earth, a public-domain geographic dataset. They show real geography at a regional scale rather than street-level detail.
Walking tours and how the site is funded
City pages list a short selection of guided walking tours, linking to Viator. If you book through one of those links we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. Tours are chosen for genuine walking content and consistently strong traveller reviews; ratings shown are the partner's published figures. Tour lists carry an advertising disclosure, and the city guides themselves remain independent of any partner.
Accessibility
The site is built to work with keyboards and screen readers, to remain readable at large text sizes, and to function without JavaScript. Walking notes describe terrain and step-free options where we can verify them, but we do not claim that any city or route is fully accessible. If something on the site is hard to use, please let us know.
